TSLAC Releases RFP for State Records Center System

On Wednesday May 1, TSLAC released a Request for Proposal for a new records tracking and billing system for the State Records Center and SLRM’s training program. It’s the culmination of many months of planning by the 25 SLRM, IT, and Archives staff who contributed to the development of the specifications.

Our goal is to roll out a records management system in the spring of 2014 that offers real time access to holdings (hard copy, microforms, and electronic media) in the records center for us and our customers. In addition, the new system should give us the ability to create and maintain records retention schedules in a database, manage microfilm production data, and will have a new billing component for records center services and the GIA training classes. Of course the timeline is subject to change, but we’re excited about moving forward with this important customer service initiative!

If you are interested in the details of the bid you can view them on the Comptroller’s Website for the next three weeks at: http://esbd.cpa.state.tx.us/bid_show.cfm?bidid=105614. I’ll post more about the system development and implementation as we reach milestones in the process. Stay tuned!
